O.P.A. will provide most of the gear associated with fishing and camping, but there are items that we require and suggest you bring depending on the type of adventure you choose. These items, as well as those you shouldn’t bring, will be included in the O.P.A. pre-trip checklist that you will receive after you book an adventure.

O.P.A. offers trips designed to accommodate all experience levels, with contingencies built in to ensure comfort and safety.

Yes, a full itinerary for each day will be sent by email after booking a package or custom adventure.

Guests of any age can stay at our lodging in Ambler or camp at Onion Portage, and we require that children be at least 9 years old for rafting. Age exceptions may be made for custom adventures at O.P.A.’s discretion. Children are charged at the regular rate for any tours. (1) child up to two years old may stay at any O.P.A. lodging free of charge with up to (2) paying adults per room.

If you are 16 or older, then you will need a State fishing license. Fishing licenses can be purchased from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) online store. Depending on the species, you may also need a harvest tag, special stamp, or a permit in addition to a fishing license. See the ADF&G license FAQs for more information.

We do not provide guided hunts, but we do provide lodging in Ambler and at our permanent tent campsite at Onion Portage, as well as daily equipment and boat rentals, all of which are available to those who plan to hunt in the surrounding area in compliance with all regulations.
